Authorities in Hudson County are investigating what they are calling the “suspicious” death of a 3-year-old boy.

News 12 New Jersey has learned that the child was brought to Christ Hospital in Jersey City on Tuesday morning and died. Details of the death were not immediately known.

News 12 has seen members of the Jersey City Police Department in the parking lot outside of the entrance to the hospital’s emergency department. Detectives have been going in and out.

News 12 has been told that the incident happened in the Heights section of the city. Both the local police department and the Hudson County Homicide Unit are investigating.

People believed to be members of the child’s family declined to comment and directed News 12 to speak with their attorney. That attorney also did not wish to comment on the situation.
