Police have opened an investigation into a threatening social media post allegedly made by a Paramus High School student.

Police were contacted after school administrators were made aware of the post on Friday.

Authorities say the threat was unsubstantiated. However, students and staff were put under a shelter in place out of an abundance of caution.

The school resumed normal activities hours later, according to officials.
