The New Jersey attorney general's office is
conducting an investigation after a woman found unresponsive by officers in a
Paterson jail cell died shortly afterward.
According to the preliminary investigation, the
woman was found unresponsive Friday around 6 a.m. when an officer conducted a
prisoner check.
The office is withholding the woman's identity, but News
12 knows she was 57 years old and had been arrested the day before
for possession of crack cocaine.
