A young girl?s smart thinking thwarted an attempted abduction in Clifton Wednesday. The incident took place as the girl was walking through the Pathmark parking lot on Clifton Avenue. Police say the girl was approached by a man in a silver car who offered a ride, but she ignored him. As she reached the intersection of Clifton Avenue and Fornelius the girl saw the car again. When she got to Clifton High School, where she attends summer school, she told her teacher who called police. Many residents say they were surprised that such an incident happened in Clifton and will pay closer attention to what their children do outdoors. Captain Rowan, of the Clifton Police Department, says the girl should be praised for her actions. Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call police.
