Prosecutors allege Small tried to coerce his daughter into falsely claiming she suffered a head injury from tripping, to support his defense.
Small and his wife, Laquetta, Atlantic City's public schools chief, are accused of abusing their daughter.
Small's lawyer denies the allegations, stating the mayor only urged his daughter to tell the truth.
