Thousands of the "undead" made their way down the boardwalk and Cookman Avenue Saturday for the 16th annual Asbury Park Zombie Walk.
It’s one of the most popular Halloween events in the Garden State. It’s even set a Guinness World Record for the world’s largest gathering of zombies.
Among the zombies on Saturday were undead spins on characters from Batman, Grease, The Wizard of Oz – even a zombified Taylor Swift.
From gummy brains to “eye scream cones” – there was lots on the menu on the boardwalk. Previous years drew more than 9,500 zombies.
“October was a really quiet time to be on the shore in Asbury,” said creator Jason Meehan. “There weren't that many people coming. Now, to see the city thriving year-round, that's been the reason to keep building the event year after year.”
