Asbury Park High School had to forfeit its opening football game Friday because of ineligibility after not enough players were eligible to take the field.
The Blue Bishops are scheduled to play their first home game this Friday against Keyport, but it’s still unknown on what will happen following the forfeit this past Friday.
The game against Weequahic had to be canceled. The superintendent says over the last few weeks, while checking eligibility requirements, they found too many players could not participate, and the game was canceled.
News 12 has been in touch with the administration and they say they hope to have an update on the status of the varsity football program by the time classes resume Thursday.
