Police are investigating a bank robbery in Ocean County on Monday afternoon.

The armed robbery occurred around 2:30 p.m. at a TD Bank in Forked River, according to the Lacey Township Police Department.

Authorities said a man came into the bank and demanded money from a teller while showing what appeared to be a black handgun. An undetermined amount of cash was taken, police said.

The suspect initially ran from the bank, but it is believed he then entered a vehicle and drove away, police said.

He was described as a man about 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, wearing jeans, a light-colored long-sleeve button-down shirt and a baseball cap. Police said he also wore glasses and a surgical-style mask.
