The arctic blast that has the Garden State in a deep freeze is taking a toll on ferry service from Atlantic Highlands.
SeaStreak, the company that runs ferries to and from New York City, canceled at least 10 trips Tuesday. Managers say ice on the water and ice on the back of the ferries has slowed down service and poses a safety threat. Those who planned to commute by boat are using alternate routes.
SeaStreak crews chipped away at the ice on the boats and were able to operate several runs to and from Atlantic Highlands for the rush hour commute.Related Information:SeaStreak
