(06/26/06) EAST BRUNSWICK ? Police are trying to piece together events leading up to the fatal shooting of a boy in East Brunswick Monday.
According to investigators, the 12-year-old boy appears to have been accidentally shot inside a home on Cypress Lane. A neighbor says she heard a child scream and ran outside to investigate. The resident says she found her neighbor?s 11-year-old son, Mike, in a distraught state with blood on his cheek. She says the boy told her he had shot someone.
When police arrived at the scene, the neighbor says she overheard the boy telling investigators he didn?t mean to shoot the victim. Many parents are outraged a loaded weapon got into the hands of young children. Police say another child was also inside the residence at the time of the shooting.
