Police arrested two young men dressed as ninjas on an admitted vigilante anti-drug crusade Wednesday.

Tadleasz Tertkiewicz, 20, and Jesse Trojaniak, 19, claim they were trying to send a message to friends that have fallen in with a bad crowd. The pair tried to deliver that message ninja-style by leaving written warnings in the middle of night.

Clad in ninja outfits and carrying ninja weapons, they were caught by police on a ramp to Route 46. The young men were also carrying smoke bombs.

Trojaniak says they intended to throw the smoke bombs into their targets' homes in the hopes the fire department would be called. According to Trojaniak, the pair hoped authorities would discover drugs while responding to the scene.

"We were sending letters to let them know that we were out there ? watching them, making sure they don't spread that kind of message," says Trojaniak.

The young men are facing weapon charges for their stunt. Terkiewicz also faces an additional charge of harassment, as an intended target was his ex-girlfriend.

Terkiewicz remains behind bars. Trojaniak has been released on bail.
