A former Jamesburg priest is accused of sexually assaulting a female relative more than 20 years ago.

Ronald Becker, 62, was arrested at his Helmetta condo Wednesday and charged with sexual assault. According to the Middlesex County Prosecutor?s Office, the 26-year-old victim recently came forward claiming Becker inappropriately groped her. She says the attacks took place from the time she was 3 to 7 years old at the family?s home in Jamesburg.

Becker was ordained as a Catholic priest in 1973, but for an unknown reason was removed from his duties in 2002. He most recently acted as the head of the Jamesburg Historical Society.

Becker is being held by Jamesburg police and is expected to be transferred to Middlesex County Jail.
