The NYC Board of Election says early voting in the Bronx was the lowest citywide.

News 12 caught up with several voters today including Vanessa Gibson, who's coming up on one year since the day voters picked her to be Bronx borough president.

Today, she cast her own ballot at P.S. 105 and encouraged others to do the same as the Bronx historically has lower voter turnout when compared to other boroughs.

According to the NYC Board of Election, early voting in the Bronx came in yesterday at 4,558 compared to 36,852 in Manhattan, 23,602 in Brooklyn, 6,423 in Staten Island and 4,900 in Queens.

The borough president says that many from the Bronx are essential workers who might not have the flexibility to vote on Election Day.

Some voters News 12 spoke to also say they have been a little confused by the new district lines drawn in 2020 and new polling sites locations.

However, Gibson does say that many Bronx residents may be opting to vote by mail. Gibson says voting is a powerful tool for change, something voters at P.S. 105 in Morris Park agree with.
