Memorial Day looked better for those who wanted to spend the day at the beach - and it wasn’t as crowded at the Belmar boardwalk as some would have expected.
As communities across New Jersey honored and remembered those who served and died for our country, some people in Belmar were at the beach Monday, but others had already spent the weekend at local clubs.
Residents tell News 12 the weather might not have been the best for sun tanning this weekend, but people were still packing businesses like the popular club D'Jais. This was great for food sales just next door at MamaLukes Pizza.
"There was nothing else to do, so let's go out to the club. While the ice cream sales were soft this week, they're usually strong, but chicken fingers, pizza, and cheese steaks sales were real brisk," says Tom Rogers, of MamaLukes Pizzas.
Other locals tell News 12 they were frustrated with the rain but were at the beach anyway.
