One week after a tornado ripped through Jackson and damaged homes and businesses, Adventure Crossing USA reopeoned on Monday morning.
It was less than three months from the time the indoor sports and entertainment complex opened back in January to when an EF-2 tornado struck the area. The huge dome collapsed hours after the storm rolled through, but crews are now ready for a new beginning.
The strong storms devastated the I-95 corridor last week. Although adventure Crossing didn't take a direct hit, the dome fell victim to the winds and hail.
“It was awful to see the dome go down. However, we’re grateful that the building itself is in perfect operating order,” said Kristine Schmocher of Adventure Crossing USA.
News 12 New Jersey attended the facility's grand opening in January. The sports complex reopened activities in the main building, including golf, axe throwing, virtual arcade and the flight simulator. The restaurant and bar also resumed service.
The dome driving range will remain closed due to ongoing repairs, and the driving range and fields are still closed.
"We have got all sorts of activities planned, including Bacon Fest April 22 and 23," Schmocher said. "Keep your eyes open because the possibilities are endless and there's a lot of fun to be had here at Adventure Crossing entertainment."
