Mayor Eric Adams has endorsed former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in New York City's mayoral race.

Adams announced the endorsement during an appearance with Cuomo at NYCHA's Johnson Houses in Harlem.

"I'm fighting for the family of New York, that's why I'm here today to endorse Andrew Cuomo," Adams said.

"The mayor put his own ambition aside because he cares more about New York City and he believes Zohran is an existential threat in New York City," said Cuomo.

The mayor and Cuomo were seen together at last night's Knicks game following the final mayoral debate. Adams announced in September that he was ending his campaign.

Democratic frontrunner Zohran Mamdani said in a statement that the endorsement was "no surprise."

"Today confirms what we've long known: Andrew Cuomo is running for Eric Adams' second term," the Mamdani campaign said in a statement. "It's no surprise to see two men who share an affinity for corruption and Trump capitulation align themselves at the behest of the billionaire class and the President himself. We are going to turn the page on the politics of big money and small ideas that these two disgraced executives embody and build a city every New Yorker can afford."

Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa's campaign responded to the endorsement by saying Adams and Cuomo had "sold out New Yorkers."

"Cuomo standing with Eric Adams is the architect joining the crooked landlord of a failing city, the same duo that sold out New Yorkers while the apprentice Mamdani cheers from the sidelines. This is corruption past, corruption present, and corruption waiting to happen again. Take a look at this. They can co-author the book ‘The Art of the Steal,'" the campaign said in a statement.
