Activists across New Jersey participated in the world’s largest protest for climate change.

Protests were held in towns like Hoboken, Montclair, New Brunswick and Red Bank the that world’s largest “Global Climate Strike.”

The demonstrators, many of them students, held signs with sayings such as “Green New Deal Now,” “We deserve a future,” and “We want climate justice now.”

Thousands more gathered around the country in the world. Protests were held in cities like Boston, New York City, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Protests abroad were held in Australia, Brazil, Germany, India and many more.

The protests were all to call on lawmakers around the globe to take the issue of climate change and global warming seriously, ahead of a U.N. climate summit in New York.

Experts say we could see extreme consequences of climate change within a decade. Droughts, wildfires, and food shortages all possible.
