A fourth-year medical resident at Saint Peter?s University Hospital in New Brunswick is facing charges of attempted murder after police say she tried to kill a security guard.
According to police, Kimberly Walker pointed a loaded .25-caliber semi-automatic handgun at the officer Thursday and pulled the trigger several times. Police say the weapon never fired. They say she then dropped the gun and was grabbed by another security guard.
Hospital officials say the OB-GYN resident was on leave from the hospital when she attempted to enter the building unlawfully. According to the hospital, the resident was arrested by police after the shooting. Walker has been released on $25,000 bail.
