A 2-year-old girl has died and her mother?s live-in boyfriend is now facing charges. Police say the toddler, Sharllene Marillo, was admitted to Montefiore Hospital on Monday and lapsed into a coma. The autopsy report states the cause of death as a blunt trauma to the head causing a brain hemorrhage. Police arrested the boyfriend, Paul Jimenez. The girl?s babysitter, who declined to give her name because she says the family has threatened her, says she reported the abuse to the Administration for Children?s Services last month. She says ACS did nothing to help the toddler.
Jimenez is charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child. He may face murder charges based on the results of the autopsy report.
