A car crash left an 89-year-old woman seriously injured Friday evening in Manchester Township, according to police.

Officers responded to the scene at School House Road and Route 530 around 5:33 p.m.

They say Gloria Smith was turning left at an intersection when she hit a Ford Mustang traveling west on Route 35.

She was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment.

The 18-year-old driver inside the Ford was unhurt, according to police.

The roadway was closed for several hours following the collision.

Authorities say the incident remains under investigation. However, failure to yield right of way at an intersection appears to be a contributing factor.
