A 5-year-old girl named Dionna Pellegrino is on a mission to help the homeless stay warm by creating a blanket drive for Random Acts of Kindness Day.
Her mother Jessica says the inspiration came from a conversation with a homeless man and that's when the idea hit Dionna. She was able to collect blankets from her neighbors, dance studio and elementary school.
The donation drop-off began at 7 a.m., and Brown’s Heating and Cooling helped with the deliveries.
The donations went to the Lunch Break in Red Bank, the homeless shelter in Fort Monmouth and the Trinity Church in Asbury Park.
