The 40th annual
Dominican Day parade was in full swing on Sunday.
The parade kicked
off just after 1 p.m. after the official ribbon cutting. Revelers and proud
Dominicans came together to march down Sixth Avenue in Manhattan to celebrate Dominican culture and
heritage.
Floats, dancing,
music and Dominican flags flooded the streets.
"The
Dominican culture is very active, very competitive, it's very dynamic,"
said reveler Fanny
Andrade.
Dominicans
make roughly one-third
of the Latino population in New York City,
according to city data.
