A third man has been arrested and charged in connection with a sexual assault investigation involving three juvenile girls in Jersey City, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.
Quamel Settle, 20, of Jersey City, was arrested Monday at a home on Fulton Avenue by members of the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force. He is charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
The investigation began after Jersey City Medical Center notified authorities July 5 about a sexual assault involving three juvenile girls. Authorities said the girls reported meeting a man on Instagram who arranged transportation to an apartment on Bergen Avenue, where the alleged sex crimes occurred July 3.
During a court-authorized search of the apartment, investigators recovered a handgun, hollow-point bullets and a large-capacity magazine.
Two other Jersey City men, Desmar Rivers, 27, and Jaquan Robinson, 19, were previously arrested on various sex crime and weapons charges in connection with the investigation.
Settle was taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.
