A Metuchen motorcyclist is in critical condition after being ejected more than 35 feet during a collision near the Menlo Park Mall on Labor Day afternoon.
The crash occurred around 1:32 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 7, at the intersection of Parsonage Road and Menlo Park Mall Drive.
According to an initial investigation, a 2023 Kia Sportage driven by a 43-year-old woman from Scotch Plains was northbound on Parsonage Road and making a left turn into the mall on a yellow light.
As she executed the turn, a 2023 Honda CBR motorcycle traveling southbound on Parsonage Road struck the front of her SUV.
The impact ejected the 31-year-old motorcycle operator from Metuchen, throwing him more than 35 feet.
The motorcyclist suffered severe head trauma and was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he remains in critical but stable condition. The driver of the Kia was not injured in the collision.
The incident remains under active investigation by the Edison Police Serious Crash Investigation Team.
