Three dogs will head to their “furever” homes this week to live with the nation’s bravest.
The New Jersey Reentry Corporation sponsored three shelter dogs as companions for veterans recently released from prison or addiction centers.
“Receiving a dog is a huge opportunity as a veteran with challenges. I’m looking forward to companionship. I plan on taking him hiking,” says Marine Corey Jones. “He is going to be a great companion, I can tell.”
Trainers from Ultimate Canin Training will spend the week with the dogs and the handlers to teach them basic commands.
The goal is to provide support and companionship for those who need it.
