A fire in Irvington damaged three homes overnight.
The flames sparked at around 1:30 a.m. on Lyons Avenue at a home that was vacant at the time.
Officials say the home was completely destroyed. They say the fire also spread to two other homes, causing heavy damage to both.
A total of eight people inside the two neighboring homes escaped safely.
One firefighter suffered a shoulder injury battling the flames, but is expected to be OK.
A neighbor told News 12 she called police just two days ago complaining about people going into the vacant home.
Officials say the cause of the fire is under investigation.
