3-alarm fire that spread to Newark buildings displaces at least 50 people

The Red Cross says a team of disaster responders are currently meeting with at least 50 people from 14 families on buses provided by the city to keep people out of the cold.

A fire that spread to several buildings in Newark displaced at least 50 people, a city official said.

Firefighters were called to 286 14th Ave. at 6:18 a.m. Officials say the fire extended to two other buildings located at 288 14th Ave. and 290 14th Ave.

More than 110 firefighters responded to the three-alarm fire that was put out around 7:30 a.m. Video of the scene reviewed by News 12 appeared to show several burnt out vehicles in front of the building and a severely damaged multifamily home.

There were no reported injuries.
