Galloway police say they are investigating an animal cruelty case where 25 dogs and 1 cat were found living in poor conditions.

Officials say they responded to the 100 block of Zurich Avenue to conduct a follow up investigation regarding an animal complaint. That’s when they say they found the animals living in poor conditions with insufficient access to food and water.

A dead dog was also later found on the property, according to police.

They say 23-year-old Jason Millar, of Wildwood Crest, identified himself as the owner of the animals. He was charged with cruelty to animals and was released pending a future court date. Additional charges are still pending.

The recovered animals were taken to the Humane Society of Atlantic County.

The organization posted on Facebook and said the dogs are friendly and are expected to be available as soon as they get permission from prosecutors.
