A 23-year-old man drowned in the ocean Saturday in Spring Lake.
Police say a man from Belleville was found face down in the surf at 2:05 p.m. Multiple agencies responded, and life-saving measures were given on the St. Clair Avenue beachfront, according to authorities.
The man was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center where he died.
The victim's name has not been released.
Spring Lake police warn that lifeguards will not be on duty for several more weeks.
“Please do not swim in the ocean until the water is guarded. Rip currents and dangerous conditions are always a possibility and the conditions change daily,” police posted in a message on Facebook.
