Downtown Cranford's 19th annual Scarecrow Stroll is underway, featuring more than 100 creations by local businesses, organizations, schools and families lining the streets.
The annual event encourages visitors to explore downtown, support local businesses and vote for their favorite scarecrows.
"It gives people a reason to come here, a reason to walk around and our hope is that not only do they visit their favorite businesses, but maybe they discover a new business," said Michelle Stavrou, social media coordinator for Downtown Cranford.
Lauren King, co-owner of The Cranford Bookstore, said the event highlights the community's spirit.
"It's just another amazing part of Cranford in October is getting to see everyone out and about for the scarecrow stroll and the other events the downtown put on here the community here so special and we wanted to be not only booksellers but a community hub," King said.
The scarecrows will remain on display through Halloween, and visitors are invited to vote for their favorites.
