A Camden man has been convicted of attempted murder and multiple drug and weapons offenses in connection with a 2024 shooting in Atlantic City, prosecutors said.

Ricardo Berrios, 40, was found guilty Thursday, Oct. 15, by an Atlantic County jury in the shooting of Antoyane McCall of Atlantic City.

Prosecutors said Berrios shot McCall on July 5, 2024, on Florida Avenue following a fistfight the previous evening.

McCall was shot in the abdomen and arm and underwent multiple surgeries at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center. He survived his injuries.

Police arrested Berrios hours after the shooting at the Downbeach Inn in Atlantic City on unrelated warrants. Officers found heroin, fentanyl and cocaine on him, along with ammunition and evidence that his motel room was being used to manufacture cocaine, prosecutors said.

In addition to attempted murder, Berrios was convicted of aggravated assault, maintaining a drug production facility and multiple drug and firearms offenses.

The jury also found Berrios to be a persistent offender because of his prior criminal convictions.

Berrios has been jailed since his arrest. He is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 15.

Prosecutors said he faces a maximum sentence of two consecutive life terms in prison.
