A Poughkeepsie man has pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment, menacing and false reporting for provoking a police-involved shooting incident in Dec. 2024.

Prosecutors say Kevin Fitzpatrick made a false report about a man armed with a gun inside an apartment building on Rose Steet.

He aimed a realistic-looking BB gun at officers responding at the scene, prompting them to open fire.

He was struck by the gunfire and hospitalized for treatment. No serious injuries were reported, according to prosecutors.

Dutchess County District Attorney Anthony Parisi says Fitzpatrick “deliberately manufactured a dangerous confrontation with law enforcement, placing the lives of responding police officers, innocent residents and himself at extraordinary risk.”

Officials say sentencing is set for Jan. 15, 2027.
