A New York produce company issued a recall of mangoes sold at some Walmart stores in the tri-state area because they may be contaminated with salmonella.

Panorama Produce, of Mamaroneck, New York, recalled 302 boxes of Martina-brand mangoes that were distributed between Aug. 10 and Aug. 21 in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The mangoes were sold at select Walmart stores.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled fruit, the FDA said.

The recall was initiated after sampling found salmonella in mangoes from the same farm. The mangoes that tested positive did not enter U.S. commerce, but the recalled fruit came from the same source, according to the FDA.

The impacted mangoes were shipped in Martina-branded boxes. Individual fruit has a light-blue Agrofepac sticker with "Produce of Mexico," PLU 4584 and UPC 07503061948050.

Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the infection can cause more serious and potentially fatal illnesses, according to the FDA.

Consumers who purchased the recalled mangoes should throw them away or return them.
