A driver is facing multiple charges after a crash that killed a 9-month-old Friday morning in Jackson Township.
The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office says 20-year-old Maria CobonGuzman, of Trenton, was driving without a valid driver's license in the Jackson NPGS grocery store parking lot on West County Line Road when she hit a mother with two young children in a baby carriage.
Ariadna Lazaro-Flores, 22, of Toms River, also faces charges related to this incident. Investigators found she was aware that CobonGuzman did not have a license and allowed her to drive anyway.
All three pedestrians were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment. The mother and her 5-year-old daughter were in stable condition as of Saturday afternoon.
Her 9-month-old son was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Both CobonGuzman and Lazaro-Flores were arrested and taken to Ocean County Jail where they were awaiting detention hearings as of Saturday afternoon.
