A Tinton Falls council member charged in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident has stepped down from his position, municipal officials confirmed.

Kashyap S. Parikh resigned from the Tinton Falls Borough Council effective Aug. 28, 2026, five days after his arrest by the Tinton Falls Police Department on a simple assault charge. Parikh was processed and released on a complaint-summons pending upcoming court proceedings.

Municipal officials emphasized that the alleged incident occurred at a private residence and was personal in nature, having no connection to borough business, property, employees, or municipal resources. Daily borough operations and services have remained unaffected.

A spokesperson for the Parikh family provided News 12 with the following statement:

"The Parikh’s are focused on moving forward together as a family. They request that their privacy, especially the privacy of their children, be respected during this time.”

With the vacancy official, the Borough Council is accepting applications from eligible residents interested in being appointed to serve the remainder of the term. Application details and submission deadlines are available on the borough’s official website.
