It was another spectacular Friday as we count down the remaining weekends of summer before kids head back to school.
Lifeguards keep a close watch over a churned up but still warm Atlantic Ocean in Spring Lake, as families like these enjoy every minute outside.
"How much summer are you going to cram into the next couple of weeks? All of September. It's beautiful! Best time of the year down here," said Pat Principio, of Spring Lake.
Madyson Dempsey brought along her entire crew to help celebrate birthday number 12 with mixed emotions on this festive day.
"Like a bittersweet time. Like, just not excited for school," said Dempsey.
Carmela Lauto had three generations of family members enjoying the calmness of the North End Pavilion Pool.
"We're going to town. And what are we going to do there? We're going to eat pizza and see the train station and go to the chocolate shop," said Lauto.
Some shop owners in the downtown district say they are looking forward to that extra week of summer with the later Labor Day.
"The kids go to school a week later, so our business is all kids pretty much so this should give us some more business," said Shane Donnelly, manager at Spring Lake Pizza and Bistro.
"There's not many days left in the season so we're hoping the weather holds off and it's beautiful beach days and everyone can get out and enjoy the beach while it's still warm enough too," said Spring Lake chief lifeguard Tony Hipsley.
Between the oceanfront and downtown, look for Spring Lake to stay busy right through Labor Day.
