Early morning fire leaves gaping hole in roof of Manalapan home

Flames tore through the roof of a home early Monday morning in Manalapan, causing extensive damage.
The fire erupted around 3:02 a.m., the East Freehold Fire Company said in a social media statement. East Freehold crews responded to provide mutual aid in Manalapan as the flames spread.
“Upon arrival, our crew was assigned to assist with fire suppression operations, conducting an interior attack in the rear of the residence,” the East Freehold Fire Department said.
Fire companies from multiple towns worked to bring the Mercer Lane blaze under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office.
