Man pleads guilty to high-speed fatal DWI crash in Freeport

A Lindenhurst man has pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide, manslaughter, and DWI charges in a high-speed crash that killed another man last year.
Bryan Mizhirumbay, 24, admitted to driving drunk while speeding and running multiple red lights in Freeport in Sept. 2025, before colliding with the other vehicle.
“Mizhirumbay spent the evening drinking on the job as he served customers at a local restaurant before getting behind the wheel and hurtling down Atlantic Avenue at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour,” said Nassau DA Anne Donnelly.
The victim, Craig White, 55, was driving home from work at AHRC Nassau in Freeport around 11 p.m. that night.
White’s car crashed through a fence on the property of Atlantic Nursery and the defendant’s vehicle became engulfed in flames, prosecutors say.
“He dedicated himself to supporting and caring for people with special needs – a job that he loved – when his life was violently stolen,” Donnelly said.
Blood drawn from Mizhirumbay at the hospital revealed his blood alcohol concentration was .18% just one hour after the incident.
The sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 2, and he faces 7 to 15 years in prison.
