A 67-year-old woman is facing charges for a hit-and-run crash that injured a mother and her 5-year-old son in Fair Lawn Tuesday morning.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office says the incident happened around 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Broadway, Fair Lawn Parkway and 32nd Street.

They say Maritza Salazar-Perez was making a left turn from 32nd Street onto Broadway when she allegedly struck the 47-year-old mother and her son as they were walking in the crosswalk. Officials say Salazar-Perez drove off without notifying the police about the incident.

The prosecutor’s office says the mother sustained minor injuries, but her child was seriously injured.

Salazar-Perez faces several charges. She was taken to Bergen County Jail pending her first court appearance.
