A kitten that became trapped in a storm drain in Piscataway was rescued Saturday night.
Firefighters responded after hearing the kitten’s meows echoing through the storm drains near the intersection of South Washington Avenue and Stelton Road, according to the New Market Fire Department.
Crews removed several drain covers and patiently coaxed the kitten to safety. After some time, the animal emerged from the pipe and walked directly into a firefighter’s hands.
The Piscataway Township Police Department then took custody of the kitten and was tasked with finding it proper care and a safe place to stay.
