Many of New Jersey's Congressional Democrats, including Reps. Frank Pallone, Lamonica McIver and Josh Gottheimer are demanding immediate answers from Homeland Security after they say a third person has died inside the immigration detention center in the past year.
Officials are asking for those answers by Aug. 12.
However, a third death has not yet been confirmed by anyone involved.
As News 12 has reported, members of Congress and others have asked for more transparency when it comes to conditions inside and how those being held are treated and if they are receiving proper medical care.
News 12 recently reported on the death of Edwin Jovanny Lopez Cornejo, whose family is demanding answers after he recently lost his life dealing with apparent high blood pressure and diabetes issues.
In their letter, they write, ‘At this point, the question is no longer whether ICE knows what is happening inside Delaney Hall. It is, why does ICE continue to allow the geo group to put lives at risk?”
There is no response from the Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin or the acting ICE Director David Venturella.
