Stratford Public Schools dismissed early on Thursday due to the extreme heat and humidity.
A statement on the district’s website read that the “decision was made to support the health, safety, and comfort of our students and staff.”
School officials say the district will dismiss early Friday as well because of the forecasted weather conditions.
Town officials initiated their extreme hot weather protocol from Thursday to Sunday.
Schools in Bridgeport and Fairfield will both operate on half-day schedules on Friday because of the extremely high temperatures.
