A total of seven people were injured by gunfire late Tuesday night during a shooting in downtown Trenton.
Trenton police responded to the area of Centre and Furman streets at about 10:30 p.m. after a ShotSpotter alert detected numerous gunshots. When officers arrived, they found several people suffering from gunshot wounds. The shooting took place about a block away from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County on Centre Street and less than a mile from Cure Insurance Arena.
According to police, seven people were shot and transported by EMS crews to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton. Two victims are listed in critical condition, while five others are in stable condition, police said in a statement.
Units from the Mercer County Shooting Response Team were at the scene conducting an initial investigation Tuesday night. Police are asking anyone with information to contact 609-989-4000 or 609-989-4155.
The names and ages of the victims have not yet been released, but police said additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
