Fans of Bruce Springsteen will soon have a new place to explore the life and legacy of the New Jersey music icon.

The Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music at Monmouth University is set to open to the public on June 13. University officials, supporters, community leaders and Bruce Springsteen himself gathered for a private ribbon-cutting ceremony this week ahead of the grand opening.

The new 32,000-square foot facility expands on the work of the former Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music. While preserving Springsteen’s archives remains a key part of its mission, the center also aims to celebrate the history and impact of American music across a variety of artists and genres.

Visitors will be able to explore exhibits that chronicle Springsteen’s career, learn about his creative process and experience interactive displays that highlight the broader story of American music. The center also includes research archives, exhibition galleries and a performance theater.

A new documentary by award-winning director Thom Zimny examines Springsteen’s influence on American music and culture and will be featured as part of the visitor experience.

University officials say the center will also host concerts, lectures, workshops, film screenings and other public programs throughout the year.

The approximately $50 million project is expected to become a destination for music fans, students, researchers and visitors interested in exploring the history and influence of American music.
