Man could get life sentence after pleading guilty to using assault rifle in Irvington carjacking

Quadir Whitehead, 32, pleaded guilty to pointing the weapon at a driver in Irvington and demanding they get out, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

A Newark man could spend life in prison after admitting to using an assault rifle during a carjacking.

Quadir Whitehead, 32, pleaded guilty to pointing the weapon at a driver in Irvington and demanding they get out, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Authorities say he then got into the vehicle and drove away.

The incident happened in August 2020.

Whitehead was arrested about a month later while selling drugs in Newark.

Sentencing is scheduled for October.
