New Jersey’s Attorney General’s Office is investigating a fatal police-involved shooting that occurred Tuesday in Atlantic City.

Authorities said two officers were struck by gunfire during the encounter on North Florida Avenue. An adult male civilian sustained fatal injuries.

The Attorney General’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability said the investigation is ongoing. Officials have not released the identities of the officers or the man who died.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the two Atlantic City police officers who were wounded this afternoon, as well as their families, and the entire Atlantic City Police Department during this difficult time," Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small, Sr. said in a statement. "We are hopeful for their full and speedy recovery."
