Young baseball players in Middlesex County got the surprise of a lifetime when one of the biggest names in basketball walked onto their local field.

New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns made a surprise appearance at a Piscataway Little League game, stunning the young athletes and coaches on hand.

The unexpected visit marks a true homecoming for the NBA star, who has deep roots in the immediate area. Towns was born right down the road in Edison and attended Saint Joseph High School in Metuchen before launching his basketball career.

Towns took time out of his schedule to drop by the local diamond, taking the community by storm.

"Surprise guest at the field tonight, Karl-Anthony Towns!" was the exciting word from the field. For the young players, getting to see a local high school legend who made it to the absolute highest level of professional sports in their own backyard is a moment they won't soon forget.
