With each passing day there appears to be no signs of gas going down.

News 12 headed over a gas station near Newark airport, where prices were above $5 for a gallon of regular.

The average price for regular gas in New Jersey is around $4.27, which is up $0.34 compared to prices last week.

Experts predict that a combination of factors may keep prices from coming down any time soon.

"We make the switch over to summer blend gasoline, which is more expensive to make and therefore more expensive for us to purchase at the pump" stated Jillian Young, from AAA Northeast.

As prices continue to rise, it’s important for residents to budget and plan travels strategically.
