Using Metuchen as a starting point, News 12 compared a trip by car and a trip via transit for a Thursday afternoon game.
A trip by car was projected to take 59 minutes by car before accounting for traffic. Drivers will pay $50 for parking, plus round-trip EZ-Pass tolls and the toll to cross the George Washington Bridge. It came out to $89.19.
A trip by transit is a viable option for those near an NJ Transit station. Several lines go to New York Penn; from Metuchen, it's the Northeast Corridor. From there, it's a short walk to the 34th Street-Herald Square subway station, where riders can catch a D train to Yankee Stadium at 161st Street and River Ave.
This trip took a little longer - one hour and 38 minutes - but cost far less, at $33.80 round-trip.
Seastreak Ferry also offers a route from Highlands. That costs $80 or $85, depending on the game.
And for New Jersey's Mets fans, News 12 will be trying out a new method to get to Citi Field by bus from the Garden State in an upcoming "Toll of Commuting."
