Gov. Mikie Sherrill delivered her first budget proposal this week, unveiling the largest spending plan in New Jersey history. She says the proposal reduces the deficit without raising taxes – insisting, “This is the budget we can afford. If there are things you think we need to add, come to me with places we can cut.” Republicans say that claim doesn’t add up, calling her no‑tax‑increase message “nonsense.”

State Sen. Declan O’Scanlon Jr., the Republican budget officer, and Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin joined the show to discuss Sherrill’s plan.

Also, Jersey Shore leaders are raising alarms over new DEP building requirements — rules they say could cost homeowners tens of thousands of dollars. One official warns the impact could be felt even in neighborhoods currently outside flood zones.
